What to expect at your appointment.

At Bloom, we understand that every individual is unique, which is why our PDO Thread treatments are customized to meet your specific needs and desires. During your appointment, our skilled and certified professionals talk with you about what you aim to accomplish and create a customized treatment plan that fits your individual needs and goals and that produces results that you expect.

Avoid alcohol and smoking 72 hours before treatment.
Avoid dental work 2 weeks prior to and after the procedure.
Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Naproxen, St. John’s Wort, oral Vitamin E, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) in the 24 hours prior to your treatment as they may promote the risk of bruising and bleeding in the injection area.
If you are currently taking anticoagulation medications (Warfarin, Coumadin, Heparin, Lovenox, Enoxaparin, Lepirudin, Refludan, Ticlopidine Ticlid, Clopidogrel, Plavix, Tirofiban, Aggrastat, Eptifibatide, Integrilin), please discuss the use of these medications with your healthcare provider prior to your treatment. You may or may not be a candidate for treatment with cosmetic dermal fillers or threads.
If you are prone to cold sores (oral herpes simplex) and are having threads done around the mouth area, please take your prescribed medication (Famvir, Famciclovir, Valtrex, Valacyclovir, Acyclovir) as prescribed in the 24 hours prior to your treatment.
Do not use PDO Threads if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders.

Ice the treated area for 5-10 minutes at a time every hour as needed for the first week (if you are experiencing slight bruising or swelling).
Do not wash or touch your face for at least 12 hours.
Restrict facial movements such as opening jaw wide or excessive smiling for one day.
Avoid applying makeup or facial cream for at least two days or until tenderness has subsided.
Do not pull your skin, massage, scrub, or deeply exfoliate the skin for at least three weeks.
Do not perform any strenuous activity or heavy lifting for one week.
Try keeping your head elevated while sleeping for a week (not mandatory but may help with swelling).
Sleep on your back vs your side or stomach to prevent any swelling.
Avoid straining or placing pressure on your face (no facial massages or massages that require you to put your face down ) for 3 weeks.
Avoid heat in treatment area such as saunas, IPL lasers, radio frequency, RF microneedling, etc. for 30 days.
Avoid medication that affects blood clotting such as fish oils and vitamins A & E for 7 days to minimize bruising.
You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience tenderness or discomfort.

Lifting threads slowly dissolve over the course of 6 months but the collagen stimulation effect lasts up to 10 months. Smaller collagen threads dissolve after 1 month but the collagen stimulation effect lasts up to 3 months (great to do at the same time as your Botox treatment). You may add additional threads at any time during the course of the treatment, even before other threads fully dissolve.

Both threads help stimulate new collagen and have a similar makeup as sutures or stitches one gets following an injury. A thread lift is for a patient who has mild skin laxity and desires a more lifted appearance. These threads are larger in length and diameter. Smaller collagen threads help build collagen and do not help with skin laxity but are great for areas where fine lines tend to form (around the mouth, fine lines of cheek, fine lines around the eyes, fine lines between the brows, etc.).

A numbing anesthetic is injected prior to the treatment to help make the treatment as comfortable as possible. Some patients report pressure and moments of pain that resolve quickly. After the treatment is done, patients may have some tenderness in the areas treated for a few days. “Zingers” or nerve sensations may occur in the weeks following your treatment, but most patients state this is infrequent.

We ask our patients to avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after the procedure is complete. We advise our patients to avoid facial treatments for at least 2 weeks following the procedure to make sure the threads do not get compromised; Botox/Dysport/Xeomin is safe to do in conjunction with threads. Makeup and facial products can be worn the following day. Bruising is always a possibility with any thread procedure.
